Near oval in form, the banded agate cameo cut in two layers, depicting an ivory draped female bust facing left, on a dark-brown background.

The woman’s expression and coiffure recalls portraits of the empress Faustina the Younger, 130-175 AD, and was likely made at that time.

Provenance:
ex. European Art Market, late 70s.
Condition:
Minor chips around the stone as shown on images, otherwise a nice example.
